MAYANI
“God is in the numbers.”
Given that open space exists everywhere,
Expansion becomes inevitable.
Multiply the tribe, subtract offending elements,
The species grows strong.
These mountains are the pattern, ordered,
And these jungles, our pockets of chaos,
In which the Ninth reigns.
We hear the Mean and rejoice.
Elsira notes:
“The Mayani are odd looking—shorter than most sidhe, dark purplish skin and white hair—and odd in their speech. The uncontested Master Mathematicians of the species, they often speak in riddles and rhymes. They are also the youngsters of the sidhe, their karu being only as old as the end of the Third Age, older by a matter of a few years than the Strigoi. Thus, many other sidhe feel protective of their “little brothers” and will fight to defend the rather docile Mayani. Though the sidhe capital area, Angamos, is officially considered Davanish territory, it lies in an historically Mayani province. This gives the Mayani a special relationship to the ruling Davanish, particularly to the Royal Angbarad Coven, and it is not usual to fine Davanish households in Angamos with several Mayani fosterlings.”

“The Maya are most remembered for their contributions in math and science. They developed a calendar system based on the observations of the earth's relationship to the sun with amazing accuracy. In fact, it is more accurate than the calendar we use today.”
