KARU RUSALKI
"No culture can thrive in a vacuum; all we are we owe to those with whom we share this sphere and they owe all to us."
1
A sudden disquiet seized our souls,
And to the mountain peaks it carried us,
Up where
the wind's forgotten how to stir the trees;
In the hills of red and white,
Reaching
from sea to sea,
We came with our children.
2
With little fanfare we set out,
With less concern they let us wander.
Deep in the
dark forests we hide
On the steppes at the top of the world we reign.
3
The People of the Red Lands
Alone we left to make our way
And friendly neighbors
found we there.
Our lands, the crossroads of the world of Sidhe,
In dispute did fall
when Galadrim reigned in Caer'Ish
And dire choice fell on our kindred.
Thus did the
hordes of Fellowship haste
To court the help of those they had ignored
4
Love for the Queen empowers
The souls and hands of Danu's children;
Little desire
had we to spill the blood of our kin,
And to our oaths we would be true.
So to newfound
friends we were forsworn
Loosing the Wolf Pack into their mountain lands.
5
When war at last subsided,
Three thousand years after the first blow fell,
The people
of the Red Lands were rewarded
And Karu Rusalki we were named by the victors,
Our cousins
from the West.
But some bonds can never be remade,
And enmity haunts our forests now,
How'so'ere
we strive to mend the breech.
