KARU SALVANI
"As pattern and energy merge in the material, we watch abstract truth made manifest."
And when in their great numbers the Davan'ishti had spread
Over the plains and hills of Europa, they came after a time
To the highland mountains and further to a great inland sea.
In the mid-day sun of the Third Age came the Proud and Noble
Kin of Queens to the Sea of Mediteraneo, where the Price of Fishermen
Laid claim to the waters and the earth that boarder them.
With beards and hair grown long in toil with small rest
The pilgrims made their homes among the hills and the waters
And thrived there, in fragrant shadows of high mountains.
For 1000 generations, and again 1000 more the People of the Healthy Lands
Worked these lands and fished these seas until, made rich by their labors
And by the gifts of the Sun and the Sea,
Did their kin in the North and the West desire their fruits.
And so was the smoke of war-fire filling in the air of the Healthy Land,
Yet sweet was the tongue of Tinia and like honey were the words
Falling from the lips of Turin, her brother, and so the pair was dispatched
To the chill forest lands of the Children of the House of Angbarad.
Discourse with the Queen had they, and so warmed was she
By the sibling's sweet song and plums stewed in wine
And so moved was Our Lady by the humble pleas of Turin,
And so delighted she in the offerings of Tinia,
Her will to war melted as Corsicino sun does dissolve the mists
That hang in all seasons about Caer'Isti.
From that time until this telling do the Heirs of Angabard
And the Kin and Kith of Tinia and Turin live in peace,
Each delighting in their chosen spheres and sharing between them
The fruits of their respective lands.
In the Lands of the Southern Seas the Salvani thrive,
The People of the Healthy Lands,
And with wine and good cheer all strife is scattered,
Til but one brave cry echoes from shore to shore:
"Forward, matshi, for death lies behind
And fair winds carry us ahead to prosperity!"
